The Explorer Trail

Calling all explorers!

The Explorer Trail is a walking route for all to enjoy. 

Start at the Farm Shop. Follow the orange arrows. Walk through the woodlands, wildflowers and orchards. Explore Wild Cat Wood. Write a letter to the birds. Be free. Run wild!

The Explorer Trail is also where our brand-new Explorer Club takes place. A series of weekly craft and play sessions designed to inspire and engage mini budding explorers.

How do I do it?

The best way to explore it is to buy a map for £3 or an activity pack from the Farm Shop for £6.

Within the activity pack you will find:

  • A handy map to navigate your way from area to area. It’s not just any map though. On it you will find, facts, activities, jokes and riddles, perfect for keeping even the most energetic explorer occupied for an afternoon.

  • Materials for getting creative en route. 

  • A postcard to write on and post in our woodland post box.

  • A special toy.

  • Explorer stickers.

What can I find on the trail?

The trail has many exciting areas for you to explore all can clearly be found on the map in the activity pack.

Amble up to an ancient mound, send each other sounds using a 10-metre trumpet, count wildcats hidden in the trees, spot the secret mirrors and learn all about reflections.

About the trail.

The Explorer Trail is a signposted walk that takes you around the perimeter of Hawarden Farm Shop. You will walk through orchards, woodlands, vegetable patches and across wild fields. Explore and discover.

The trail is for all ages. It is designed to be interesting, educational and fun. Follow the orange signs and see what you discover. The closer you look, the more you will find.

EXPLORER TRAIL EVENTS

In addition to exploring the trail, you can now join us at Explorer Club. Running every Saturday, Explorer Club is an activity session for mini budding adventurers to have fun learn all about the outdoors. 

Meet at the Farm Shop, then head off on an outdoor adventure in our woodland with our Explorer Leader.

You will learn a new skill and get creative with crafts before enjoying a story around the campfire, with a hot chocolate and marshmallow for toasting. 

Each week there will be a different activity and a different skill to learn. Each session will last 2 hours.

Great for all ages 2-11.
