Tree Identification Walk with David Winnard

Hawarden Estate is teeming with wildlife, including a load of incredible trees. By the end of this event you will have got to grips with some of our countryside common trees and perhaps a few unusual species too.  

Join local nature expert Dave Winnard for a beautiful summer morning and explore some of the tree species we have here on Hawarden Estate. You will learn how to identify them and explore mythology and folklore around these remarkable plants.

You will walk through the grounds of the estate and learn about the different species as well as look at their buds - a key feature for identifying trees in winter, their bark, and any other features so we will know our Oaks from our Beech, our Sweet Chestnut from our Birch.  You will also be collecting some twigs and buds whilst out on our walk to bring back with us to compare them all at the end over a hot drink.

This Walled Garden School session will be a leisurely stroll through the grounds of the Hawarden Estate.

A snack and unlimited tea and coffee are included in your ticket price.
